Today the global ecumenical family hosted at the Ecumenical Centre, Geneva, a delegation from churches and civil society in Brazil, that is in Europe to share and reflect on the state of human rights and democracy in their country.
The delegation, led by the coordinator of ACT Brazil Forum, Pastor Romi Bencke, who is also the General Secretary of the National Councils of Churches in Brazil described the situation as extremely dire and called for the support, solidarity and accompaniment of the global ecumenical family. The general secretaries of ACT Alliance Rudelmar Bueno de Faria and the Lutheran World Federation Rev. Martin Junge, who could not be present at the event, sent their greetings and message of solidary by video.
The delegation also included Mr Daniel Rech, a partner of Misereor and Ms Julia Esther Castro Franca, the executive coordinator of the process of articulation and dialogue between European ecumenical agencies and Brazilian partners.
